Good Bye Siong

Sis ordered a cake for her colleagues' farewell. Although her colleagues all love the chocolate cake, but sis was longing for a change.

The decoration of the cake was originally laptop, book and a pile of paper, kind of office stuff. But since the delivery of this cake was after Zoey's cake, sis changed the decoration to TTB (TeaRoom Teddy Bear). One that holds "System Biology", the subject her colleague specializes in. Together with TTB a large System Biology book.

Here's the special message to Siong. And I heard Siong actually had the "Best" piece of the cake.

This is a carrot cake (with raisins, walnut and chocolate chips, yes chocolate chips. Moisten with banana) and covered in cream cheese frosting.

Zoey's Birthday Cake

I think Shirley has been wanting to order a cake from me, and particularly the Mars Bar cheesecake after she saw it on Facebook the other day (thanks for the support!). In fact, Shirley booked this cake many weeks ago for her daughter's third birthday.

She didn't specified what kind of decoration, just said something cute, perhaps teddy bear. I haven't made a teddy bear for a long time and I tried a different design this time. And so far, this is my favorite.

Some presents together with teddy. Teddy and presents were not on the cake because fondants might melt away when they sit on moist surface.

This is a mini 6 inches Mars Bar cheesecake. A blend of cream cheese and rich double cream with chunky Mars Bar chocolates, layered with chocolate and butterscotch sauce, drizzled and marbled with more chocolate and butterscotch sauce. Encased in Oreo chocolate biscuit.

Little Einsteins

Here's another lead from Clare, my top supporter! It's Clare's nephew's birthday and this cake was a present to the birthday boy. The details were discussed with Clare's sis in law.

When I first heard of Clare's request on the cake decoration of "Little Einsteins" I had straight away imagine little white head Einstein, wrinkly and tiny which reminded me of those little Einstein figures Night in The Museum 2. When I told Clare that, she gave me a big no NO!

Whoopss... okay, Little Einsteins is a new (to me new lah, I used to watched the old version Cinderella, Snow White, Tom and Jerry...) Disney cartoon series and not Albert Einstein. Haha...

Now, THIS is one on the Little Einsteins, Leo, from the animated series. I told Abby, Clare's sis in law, that I don't think I would be able to mould the Little Einsteins figurines after finding out how they looked like through the web links.

I suggested instead to have a 3D rocket from the cartoon. After a few more discussions, Abby has agreed with a 2D Leo with 3D rockets, birds and butterflies.

Here are the birds (which might look more like chickens - still birds no? I think is the colour, next time I will make blue ones) and butterflies. I couldn't make them too big otherwise they will be too big to be put beside the rocket.

Added grass and flowers to complete the terrain for the landed rocket.

Cupcakes with little handbags

Here's an order from Aunty Jennifer, collected this afternoon for a party she's attending. When she placed her order, she told me she wanted something that will be very special to the birthday girls and something to give the elements of surprise.

Not sure what to make for 21 year old birthday celebration since the baker was given total free hand. Finally decided on these little handbags.

Aunty Jennifer came to pick up the cupcakes with her daughter and son. I left the boxes unsealed for them to take a look. There was a scream of, what I hope, surprise from her daughter. I guess they quite like the idea of these little handbags then.

Li Anne's 2nd Birthday

I've got a refer by Clare to Suet who was planning for her daughter's 2nd birthday party. When Suet called me, it was a week before the party. I've originally planned to close my orders for 4th July because of the 2 tier wedding cake. But after confirming the bride's cake design, I felt that I could still manage this birthday cake. Besides, I really didn't want to miss out the fun of decorating this cake!

Suet wanted a huge cake that will be impressive enough. She told me the 1st birthday cake was 2 feet big. I told her the fresh cream covered cake needed refrigeration and I couldn't fit such a big cake inside my fridge. The biggest I can do was 16 inches times 12 inches. Which luckily was good enough for Suet.

Suet also sent me a few images on the type of designs she wanted. I told her, however, that those sample designs were cake with butter icing or fondant, and I will try to use fondant cut-out flowers but they might melt when in contact with moisture.

Made some coloured fresh cream, but still tried my best to have the fondant flowers on the cake. Here they are, mainly pink and purple designs.

The very original plan was to have a 3D little girl sitting on top of the cake, but Suet told me that the grandmother some how didn't allow that. But the cake was just a bit plain and lacking the party feel. So I made some little presents with the extra sponge cake pieces, so these are fully edible presents.

The presents were placed here...

And here... Cake collected on Saturday. I hope the birthday girl liked this cake.

Yasmin's Wedding Cake

I remember asking Yasmin if she wanted to order her wedding cake from me early this year. She told me then that her big day was some time away. Time flies!

Finally... got a text from Meen a week before her wedding party for the ordering of her cake. I've proposed chocolate cake for the cake which was not objected by the bride since she was a fan too.

Meen has requested for baby blue and pink flower design and she particularly said she doesn't want fondant, she wanted butter icing instead. Yes, I do agree that I also like eating butter icing more than the fondant. I told her lets use fondant cut out flowers in case the butter icing piped flowers stain the cake.

Hope, flower didn't stain the cake. This is perhaps because the colours were not too strong, and I only piped on those flowers the morning before delivery of the cake.

More flowers on the top of the cake and the couple's name. I've got his wedding couple from ICCA because I feel that those you get from the other baking supply shop lacking details. Of course the price of this is slightly higher too.

Specially asked the couple to pose with the cake for my album. :)

My Chocolate Cake Wedding Present

CS ordered a cake for his ex-colleagues' wedding. This is supposed to be more of a surprise present for the bride which is why the pink (bride's favorite colour). Besides, I'm sure pink and red won't go wrong with occasions like weddings, especially when the parents are present.

When we brainstormed for the design of the cake, we originally plan to have perhaps things that symbolize what the couple do, their favorite items etc. Tennis? But then again, tennis racket might not really match the mood of this cake. So settled with roses.

By the way, I think the other cake idea of the bed and clothes littered all around will be fun to make and it might better reflect on the couple's routine. :p

This time, the present is being wrapped in pink present paper and tied with pink ribbons dotted with heart designs.

... and a double bow.
A present tag with the couple's name.

I had prepared a lot of different types of greetings. But didn't look like there is much space to write all those "happily ever after..." wishes.

This is a chocolate cake (for obvious reason) covered with milk chocolate icing before being wrapped up in Fondant. Fondant covered cake board. Looks quite good when it's placed inside the cake box as the cake decoration stretches from end to end.

Almond Chocolate Biscotti - thin slices

Wai En is a big fan of biscotti. He told me the other day that he can finished a whole packet he usually buy from Dome Cafe in one day and I didn't believe him until today.

Made a 250gm batch for him and it was finished within a few minutes. That was also because he was offering the whole office.

He wanted thin slices and reduced sugar. This was the best thin cut I can do unless I have a machine. It's not easy slicing these biscuits with the almonds in them. ;)

Cupcakes in Macao

These were made some time ago for a wedding dinner in Macao. It was my sister's sister in law's wedding and the dinner was held in The Venetian Macao. The cupcakes were hand-carried by bro in law all the way to Macao.

The mini cupcakes for the guests...

And some large cupcakes for the head table.

The cupcakes at the dinner table...

I heard the cupcakes were quite popular, it even created a queue to get extras... :)
