Birthday celebration at new home

CS and Shiun Yan requested this design - For a Malaysian and Indonesian couple who had moved into their new home.
A house (which looks like one for smurf!) with the Malaysian and Indonesian flags. Some tress behind the house, a path to go into the house through the garden. :)
This was to celebrate the wife's birthday. This was a lychee fresh cream cake.
I later felt that the garden was a bit empty, so added some flowers to cheer up the area.

My Sis and BIL's birthday surprise

At first, I wanted to have a birthday party for sis and bro in law (BIL)'s belated birthday, like last year, BBQ at home. But actually, it's really a lot of hassle and I'm not only referring to the preparation. Anyways... So I thought perhaps arrange for a meal.

But since we need to work around baby's time, the best was a lunch, but I didn't manage to get any of our common contacts to attend. Not that we have that many common friends. So at the end, it was just sis, BIL and I at Concorde KL for a buffet. Me picking at vegetables and egg items.

I actually already told sis that I am making her an LV bag :). But not the dainty ones which is not really sis' cup of tea. She had been using an LV sling bag for more than 5 years, and I recently got her a new one - no, not LV, cannot afford one. So I made her a LV cake instead.

This cake was a butter cake filled with strawberry jam and butter icing, the design was made using edible print images. Erm... some of you might have realized that I got the image upside down. Then again, I think some of the LV bags with the flap are arranged this way. Because that case if you look at the bag from the back, the images are actually on their right (correct) side.

Anyways, no one at the party commented. Ohh... the party was without me at the end. Sis organized a gathering with her old school mates, one of them mates from primary school which I happened to know who could actually help me with organizing a surprise. Actually both husband and wife, Henry and Sharon. Special thanks to them for organizing this surprise on my behalf! THANK YOU!

So the cake was passed to Sharon and Henry this morning before I went to they gym, oh I mean before they went to lunch :) and the rest was organized by them couple. It was a very successful surprise I heard.

And I got a bit of the story from sis. Glad they were pleasantly surprised and everyone enjoyed the cake. Except that they did not light the candles, probably didn't realize I've stuck the candles on 2 of the cupcakes because those candles were decorative ones which probably looked like one of the cupcake toppers. No... I didn't take a picture of them because I only remembered to put them on after I finished my photo shooting session.

The cupcakes were coffee pecan cupcakes with coffee butter icing, 24 large cupcakes - BIL is not a dessert person but he happens to like coffee cakes. (and some particular chocolate Swiss roll I think...)

Here's to another year full of happiness and success!
Happy belated birthday to Caroline and Alan!

Baju!

I was too glad to receive this order - I can use my new toy! Plus, I was planning to make some samples for this year's Raya theme. So I might just borrow Kath's design here:)

Kath ordered this box specially for her friend all the way from Penang, Whitney tailors traditional Malay clothes.

A baju kurung (forgot to check if the folding parts are supposed to be on the right)

A kebaya (again, forgot to check my kain to see which side is the slit :p)

Made with my new toy :) to resemble the baju kurung collar - is it called collar??

Happy birthday Whitney!

And thanks Kath for ordering again. I think Whitney is on my FB page aleady ^^

I Luv Grandpa

Audrey ordered this cake. I was curious myself at first about how the cake will appear to look like with TTB and the longevity peaches. One thing about free-hand designs, you just gather everything customers like and later try to patch everything up together so that they don't look too out of place :p

8 miniature "shao tou"

TTB with a heart, and the happy birthday message made of chocolate

This was a black forest cake - chocolate sponge filled with dark pitted cherries and fresh cream. My worry was how long the fondant would still manage to look nice on this chilled cake. The delivery was 11am and the cake cutting was only at night that day, one whole day... I tried to make the fondant decorations way in advance hoping that if they were dry and steady, they can survive the moisture better.

Happy birthday to Grandpa!

note to self: must remember to check with Audrey how did the fondant decorations do that night...

The Little Princess who turned 1

Sharon has been referred by Nicky (indirectly I think...) and she also wanted to order a pillow cake with the tiara and scepter/ wand.

At first Sharon was referring to the picture of the tiara in my earlier post (on a smaler cake) and was concerned that the tiara might look a bit small on her cake because she needs a big cake - I offered a 12 x 12 inches cake. But I told her the tiara was actually handmade! So any size is fine :). The colour requested for the "pillow" was pastel pink.

Everything on the tiara is edible this time, no sticker gemstones etc because it's a children party and to avoid any kid from accidentally eating the plastic diamonds.

The wand, fully edible except of course a stick for inner support

The cake was just nice to fit both tiara and wand, with the given birthday message

Ribbons and frills for the "pillow"

Sharon also liked the butterflies in the previous cake, but since hers was a much bigger cake, we could actually have more butterflies.

Butterflies were requested for turquoise colour

Happy 1st birthday to Samira!

A belated birthday gift

A glittering gift

Missed the actual day of Teoh's birthday. Gave him a belated birthday present, and had to plan and arrange for this box of cupcake later - to make sure little bro in question won't complain about giving him fattening stuff, plus need to make sure this busy boy was around before baking!

Nike sling bag

TTB... but I should have made a Manjakid penguin, it slipped my mind when I made TTB. Next year ^^

A pair of Nike shoes

An iPod

Not sure who were there because I left the box with the reception since little bro wasn't there when I went for my gym session, but I hope everyone who was there had enjoyed the cuppie cakes :)

Happy birthday again little bro. I'm sure you've had a great celebration (or many celebrations).

Last year's birthday cupcakes, which were arranged by Nick and delivered by Cheng.
